Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police reported they were alerted by a individual who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials announced they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for information.

An important official stated the attack rendered him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
